We are over a quarter of the way through this year, believe it or not! So what can we expect for the coming months?
When the sun finally shines, we can expect a real focus on cloud computing for the rest of this year, as more and more businesses are choosing to trust off-premises storage solutions. The development of more secure services and improved integration with increasingly popular mobile devices such as iPads and Microsoft Surfaces means that the cloud is becoming the best option for many small, medium, and large businesses. This will only increase throughout 2013 and into 2014.
A continued focus on the social side of business is also a theme within IT at the moment. IT consultancy now has to bring an improved awareness of the necessity to employ social tools within enterprise, and Microsoft’s inclusion of Skype and Yammer in their SharePoint 2013 release highlights this perfectly.
And what events can we look forward to in the second half of 2013?

With over eighty contributors exhibiting fresh and exciting new IT services and solutions, SITS provides a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and organisations, make lots of valuable new contacts, and get a taste for what’s happening in the IT industry in general. The Managed Services & Hosting Summit is the ideal event for innovative IT and business professionals.
The UK IT Industry Awards are also coming on the 13th November 2013. These awards are the benchmark for the very best performing individuals and companies in the British computer industry. The awards recognise the contribution of people, projects, businesses and technologies that have benefitted the Information Technology sector in the last year. The event is run by the BCS (The Chartered Institute for IT) and nominations are welcome for an expanded range of categories. Being nominated for one of these prestigious awards can provide a real kick for any IT business – so get involved!
The IT industry is more vibrant than it has ever been, and with the continued development of tools and applications for businesses, Information Technology is arguably more important than it has ever been.
