Scribd recently announced that it has added over 6000 titles to its library! For those of you who may not have heard of Scribd, it’s a digital library subscription service which provides a variety of eBooks and audiobooks, and the company has even partnered with Marvel to provide users an extensive range of online comics. In simple terms Scribd is a lot like Netflix for readers!
The online book membership has expanded its already huge range of books by adding more than 6000 titles from Macmillan Publishers to its collection, making it the third time the publisher has increased the number of titles available on the subscription. Titles include popular books such as, Matthew Quick’s, Silver Linings Playbook and Richard Price’s Lush life.
The addition of the Macmillan titles follows up from Scribd recently changing their business model to a hybrid, which enables users to read three premium eBooks whilst also having unlimited access to another collection of books called Scribd Selects, which includes a variety of books from independent, small, and larger publishers including HarperCollins, RosettaBooks, Workman Publishing and Kensington Books.
CEO of Scribd, Trip Adler, said Scribd’s subscribers are continuing to grow year over year. Is this a sign that paperback books as we know them will soon be a thing of the past?
